Having a case of the Mondays?  I know… it happens.  One cure that always works for me… SHOPPING!!!  Right now, I’m on the hunt for a new, chic, statement-making floor lamp for our living room.  Here are 6 options I’m considering.  Of course I love them all, so you’ll have to help me decide…

1. Industrial Task Floor Lamp – West Elm
2. Midday in Paris Spotlight Floor Lamp – Dot & Bo

3. Cantilever Lamp – Urban Outfitters
4. Gumball Floor Lamp – Urban Outfitters

5. Robert Abbey Kinetic Antique Brass Pharmacy Floor Lamp – Lamps Plus
Overarching Floor Lamp- Antique Brass – West Elm

So… do you have a fave?  Which one should I choose?

Ciao for Now,

♥♥ Vicky

Hello, Handsome!

Today I’m trading in feminine-chic for masculine-handsome.  Presenting the “Dapper Man Cave”. No kegs or neon signs here… just an ultra-handsome hangout that’s hip, distinguished and a little bit seductive.  Despite the mounted bullhead (don’t worry, it’s faux), this man cave reads more Don Draper than Paul Bunyan.  It’s a versatile space that’s the perfect mix of modern and rustic; masculine enough for him, but polished enough for her (that is, if she’s ever allowed to enter :))

From left to right: Wallpaper – Graham & Brown | Sofa – Jonathan Adler, wayfair.com | Cashmere Throw – Bronte Moon, occa-home.co.uk | Cardboard Bullhead – Cardboard Safari | Light Fixture – unknown, similar at Restoration Hardware| Coffee Table – BDI USA, allmodern.com | Bar Cart – Arteriors Home, zincdoor.com | Decanter – LSA, occa-home.co.uk | Leather Recliner – Crate & Barrel | Wall Clock – Kenneth Wingard, inmod.com

Any other items or finishing touches you’d like to see in the “cave”?

Ciao for Now,

♥♥ Vicky

brass, end table, geometric, gold, lamp, light fixture, mirror, pendant, rug, side table, terrarium

Okay, so my new obsession is geometric decor.  There’s something so crisp and clean about the lines, and it’s absolutely chic.  I’m loving how the shapes breathe openness into each piece.

Here are 6 of my top picks:

1. Mirror; Wisteria | 2. Pendant Light – Arteriors Home; Wayfair | 3. Side Table; Urban Outfitters | 4. Lamp; One King’s Lane | 5. Terrarium; Restoration Hardware | Rug; Joss & Main

Good Chemistry: Mercury Glass

One of the most classic finishes to use in accessorizing a space is glass. Mercury glass in particular adds a sense of elegance and sophistication to a space, yet in a vintage-inspired way. The details and “imperfections” in mercury glass create interest, and you only need 2-3 pieces to make an impact.

Here are a few ideas to get you started.

1. Candle; Anthropologie | 2. Light Fixture; Clayton Gray Home | 3. Decorative Bottles; Neiman Marcus | 4. Table Lamp; Pottery Barn | 5. Perfume Bottle; Amazon | 6. Room Divider; Zinc Door

art, credenza, flatware, gold, light fixture, mirror, Olympics, pendant, pillow, side table, sideboard, stool, table, Team USA

I don’t know about you, but I’m super excited about the Olympics starting today. I get so sucked in (sometimes too much and I stay up way past my bed-time and hate myself in the morning). In any case, I wanted to wish Team USA (and all the other countries :)) good luck, and am dedicating this post to them.

As for the rest of us who aren’t so athletically gifted, I offer you a way to go for gold anytime.

Framed gold leaf bird; Zinc Door | Gold leaf pendant – Worlds Away; Layla Grayce | Gold flatware; West Elm | Gold leaf mirror; Layla Grayce | Gold leaf table – Worlds Away; Layla Grayce | Gold and linen pillow – Dransfield &Ross; The Well Appointed House | Gold sequins polkadot pillow; West Elm | Gold accent table – Bliss Studio; Zinc Door | Gold and white sideboard – Iannone; 2Modern

Let the games begin!

Design My Poolhouse

One of my go-to websites when I’m creating a design board is olioboard.com.  From time-to-time olioboard hosts design challenges where contestants submit virtual design concepts.  Currently they’re running a poolhouse design challenge.  It sounded like fun, so I decided to submit an entry.

Aesthetically, I wanted the room to be fun and whimsical with lots of vibrant colors.  I chose blues and greens to bring the colors of nature and the pool inside. Functionally, there were a couple of things to consider.  I wanted to ensure there was a sitting area meant for relaxing and getting a break from the sun; and I wanted to have an area where people could sit down and enjoy lunch or a snack.

So… here’s the final product…

What do you think?  If you like it, I’d love for you visit the site and vote for my space.

Thanks for all of the support!

The Patriotic Patio

4th of July, blue, chair, contemporary, eclectic, furniture, Independence Day, July 4th, light fixture, mid-century modern, modern, nautical, outdoor, patio, pendant, pillow, planter, red, rug, rustic, vase, white, wood

Ahhh, July 4th… BBQ, fireworks, fun in the sun, and most importantly, a day off of work :).  In honor of Independence Day, I thought I’d focus on an outdoor space and keep things festive with a red, white and blue color scheme. I’m not one to embrace the ‘Yankee Doodle’ literal interpretation, so here’s my take on the patriotic patio.

Whether designing an indoor or outdoor space, I love to mix different styles to create a space that feels unique and inviting.  Here’s how I brought the space together:

First I brought in rustic and nautical elements.  The rustic items play off of the existing horizontal wooden panels and preserve the natural feel of the outdoor space. The nautical pieces hint toward the waters that lie beyond the infinity pool.

1. Planter – Anthropologie | 2. Table – Wayfair.com| 3. Light Fixture – Anthropologie | 4. Hammock – Anthropologie| 5. Rug – Wayfair.com | 6. Pillow – bludot.com

Next I brought in modern and contemporary touches both of which add pops of color.  The modern elements follow the architectural details of the home, while the contemporary elements tie everything together creating a cohesive and functional space.

1. Bench – Wayfair.com| 2. Lounge Chair – similar lexmod.com| 3. Dining Chair, 4. Vase, 5. Pillow, 6. Umbrella, 7. Stool – all Wayfair.com

So, that’s my take on the patriotic patio. Cheers to mixing design styles to create a one-of-a-kind space, and showing patriotism all summer long.

Happy 4th of July!

Color Story: Going Green

chair, end table, flowers, Glitter Guide, green, light fixture, night stand, pendant, pillow, side table, The Life Styled, vase

Today, as I was browsing The Glitter Guide (one of my fave go-to sites for inspiration), I came across the latest ‘Style At Home’ piece featuring Catherine Sheppard of The Life Styled.  I instantly fell in love with her ultra feminine style and quirky accents (love the gold dinosaurs).

On of my favorite vignettes was this one where she accessorizes a console table with beautiful green accents.

I’m absolutely loving this shade of green that adds an air of vibrance to the room and reminds me of summer.  I was so inspired, I decided to scour the web to see what vibrant green pieces I could find.  I was looking for decor in lime and sea-foam shades in particular to keep the summer feel.  Here’s what I found:

1. Flowers – See your local florist 🙂 | 2. Pendant – CX Design, Lumens.com | 3. Chair – Green, 2modern.com | 4. Vase – iittala, 2modern.com| 5. Pillow – PoshTots.com | 6. End Table – Worlds Away, LaylaGrayce.com | 7. Night Stand – UrbanOutfitters.com

Are you looking to incorporate a bit of summer green into your decor?  Any other color you’re obsessing over right now?
