For those of you with kiddos, you’ve probably already discovered one of my favorite sites, The Land of Nod.  But even if you don’t have kids, you should definitely check them out.  Their pieces are amazing… playful enough for kids, but chic enough for us grown-ups.

Here are 5 finds that I’m obsessed with right now.

I mean, seriously, how chic are these pieces? Do you have a favorite?

P.S. All of their furniture is 15% off thru Monday, so if you have your eye on a piece, I suggest you swoop it up quickly!

Ciao for Now,

♥♥ Vicky

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was pretty low-key which means I had a bit of time to catch up on some reading… and by reading I mean perusing catalogs and magazines. Of course that can be a dangerous activity because it just makes me want to buy stuff… and on that note I just couldn’t resist sharing 5 great finds that I’m dying to have from West Elm.

Just gorgeous, right!

Notice how everything has a hint (or more) of gold. I just can’t get enough. Any color that you can’t get enough of right now? Leave a comment and let me know. Perhaps it will inspire a new color board.

Ciao for Now,

♥♥ Vicky

Keira’s Nursery Final Chapter: DIY Duo

I mentioned before that Keira’s nursery came together with a mix of splurges, bargains and DIY projects, and for this last post I’m highlighting 2 of the DIY projects.

Dresser

This was a super simple DIY! Find a simple white dresser with clean lines, replace the boring knobs with some chic brass hardware and voila!

Slide1

Custom Artwork

This project takes a little more time, but is still super simple.  Start with craft feathers (I used white and pink), dip the tip of each feather in gold metallic paint paint (we know how I like anything gold dipped), and then sprinkle gold glitter on top.  Once the feathers are dry, frame them and you have your own custom one-of-a-kind artwork!

Slide2

Well that officially wraps up the mini-series on Keira’s nursery.  Hopefully you enjoyed it and got a little bit of inspiration along the way.

Coming soon are new installments of the Here & Now series, a host of new trend posts and a brand new series I’m starting this year.

Ciao for now…

♥♥ Vicky

Keira’s Nursery Chapter I: The Room

Okay, so after many months of promising to share pics of Keira’s nursery, I’m finally doing it.  I’m super pleased with how the room turned out. Between a couple of splurges, quite a bit of bargain hunting and some DIY projects, I was able to complete the space and come in under my $3000 budget… hooray!

I wanted a room that was feminine but not too girly or young.  The color palette consisted primarily of various shades of pink (but NOT pink walls), white, grey and gold as that perfect sophisticated accent.

The wall color (Mauve Morning by BEHR; The Home Depot) creates a calming ambiance that really grounds the room.  Surprisingly my husband picked the color (well, he selected it out of the 3 swatches I put on the wall).

Here are details on some of the key products in the room.

S.O.L.E Designs Tami Storage Ottomans – Zulily.com (no longer available, but keep an eye out because I’ve seen them featured more than once)

IMG_1095South Shore Cotton Candy 4-Drawer Dresser – Target
Note: I added a little twist to the dresser… more to come in a future post

Hope you love the space as much as I do.  Stay tuned for more details of how the space came together.

OMG! So, I am completely, totally, 100% obsessed with peach right now!  Who knew the color that was the epitome of the 80’s would make such a come-back?  I mean, I guess I shouldn’t be surprised… you know what the say.. all trends (fashion, interior, or otherwise) are cyclical.

Just looking at my little moodboard makes me smile.  Hopefully it makes you smile too!

Are there any peach items that you’re obsessing over right now?

That’s Toile Folks

Looking to add a little old world elegance to your space?  Try toile!

Originating in Europe, and popular in American Colonial design, toile is a traditional yet anything but boring design aesthetic.  It’s a great way to add a healthy dose of personality to your space.

Wondering how to incorporate it into your space… I’m so glad you asked:

1. Wallpaper – How fab is this bathroom?!? Traditional yet modern. {source}

2. Dinnerware – The toile design aesthetic is perfect for a formal dining room, but if you have commitment issues, dinnerware is the perfect option. {source}

3. Furniture – This custom wallpapered dresser exudes femininity and I’m loving it! {source}

4. Accessories – Another non-committal option is accessorizing with toile.  This wastebasket is perfect for a guest bathroom or bedroom.  I especially love the mixing of traditional toile with asian design. {source}

5. Headboard – Nothing says girly like a pink toile headboard.  How great would this be for a little girl’s room?!? {source}

Speaking of the DIY painted dresser… once the painting is done there’s one last step – adding the perfect knob.  Here are some of my faves. Each knob has its own style that can add the perfect finishing touch to your fab “new” dresser.
