Having a case of the Mondays?  I know… it happens.  One cure that always works for me… SHOPPING!!!  Right now, I’m on the hunt for a new, chic, statement-making floor lamp for our living room.  Here are 6 options I’m considering.  Of course I love them all, so you’ll have to help me decide…

1. Industrial Task Floor Lamp – West Elm
2. Midday in Paris Spotlight Floor Lamp – Dot & Bo

3. Cantilever Lamp – Urban Outfitters
4. Gumball Floor Lamp – Urban Outfitters

5. Robert Abbey Kinetic Antique Brass Pharmacy Floor Lamp – Lamps Plus
Overarching Floor Lamp- Antique Brass – West Elm

So… do you have a fave?  Which one should I choose?

Ciao for Now,

♥♥ Vicky

Anna Joyce, brass, celestial, gold crescent moon decor, moon & star earring studs, paper star DIY, star garland, star-print napkins

It’s been a while since I’ve done my standard Wednesday ‘Here & Now’ post, but not to fret… I’m bringin’ it back.  And for this 2015 inaugural H&N post, I’m going with a celestial theme.

Over the Crescent Moon

Loving this golden accent.  A little moonlight never hurt nobody, right?!?IMG_5869Les Petits Bohemes

Super ‘Star’ DIY

This star garland looks so simple to make.  Of course I’d use gold paper, perhaps with some pastel pink thrown in. I’m thinking of making some to go over baby #2’s crib… Yes?ana07a-hole with a blog

dab it with a star

These star-printed napkins are ADORABLE.  Chic, cool & playful all at the same time… magic! 8eb0cec4d2a1f8201dd8c8a5699de2cc

Celestial Studs

These dainty earrings are so lovely.  I love the mis-matchedness (not a word… I know), but you get my drift.il_570xN.531724711_orwlUpper Metal Class via Etsy

Happy New Year! Okay, I know I’m a little late, but, for most of us, today is “back to reality” day.  So, I thought I’d provide some ‘golden nuggets’ to brighten your day.

By now, you all know about my obsession with gold (here, here and here are just a few examples), and then there’s my love of geometric decor… put those together and you have items that I’m absolutely obsessed with.

Here are 5 picks I have my eye on.

Any “nuggets” that are catching your eye lately?

Let’s face it, working is not always fun; but one way to make it less painful is to have a super cute desk.  What would my perfect desk look like?  A clean white a parsons desk with lots of gold accessories.

How to Accessorize Your Bedside Table

bedside table, brass, candle, carafe, clock, flowers, frame, giraffe, jewelry holder, lamp, mason jar, night stand, peonies, ring holder, silver, table lamp

So… you just bought a fabulous new night stand (or better yet, you performed a DIY update on one you already had). In any case, now it’s time to add the finishing touches. Like any other surface in your home, you want to make sure to add a few key pieces to infuse personality. When accessorizing a bedside table, the items should be not only functional, but also personal and interesting.  Here are 7 key items that work for any bedside table. Depending on the size of yours, feel free to edit to ensure things don’t look too cluttered.

1. Alarm Clock: Clearly in the functional category, but this one tres chic (RueDesLouves, Etsy)

2. Lamp: Another necessary yet beautiful addition (Arteriors Home, Zinc Door)

3. Small Flower Arrangement: One view of these in the morning, and your day is off to a great start (inspiration found at haute-hostess.com)

4. Picture Frame: To ensure that loved-one is close to you at all times (Michael Aram, Neiman Marcus)

5. Candle: In case you need to create a certain ambiance in the bedroom 🙂 (Sydney Hale Co. Candle, School House Electric)

6. Jewelry Holder: Fun and functional! (ModCloth)

7. Water Carafe: A thoughtful touch, especially in a guest bedroom (similar; Design Within Reach)

Anything you have on your bedside table that’s not on this list?

Ciao for Now,

♥♥ Vicky

5 Finds: West Elm

Hope everyone had a great weekend. Ours was pretty low-key which means I had a bit of time to catch up on some reading… and by reading I mean perusing catalogs and magazines. Of course that can be a dangerous activity because it just makes me want to buy stuff… and on that note I just couldn’t resist sharing 5 great finds that I’m dying to have from West Elm.

Just gorgeous, right!

Notice how everything has a hint (or more) of gold. I just can’t get enough. Any color that you can’t get enough of right now? Leave a comment and let me know. Perhaps it will inspire a new color board.

Ciao for Now,

♥♥ Vicky

Weekend Wrap-up

06 Monday Aug 2012

brass, floral, gold, jewelry, mirror, necklace, neon, paper, polka dot, wrapping paper, zebra wood

I thought I’d start a new series called “Weekend Wrap-up”.  Don’t worry, I won’t bore you with all of my weekend charades, but from time to time, I’ll give you a glimpse into what I do in my free time.

I’m a bargain shopper and have a slight addiction to private sale websites. Most recently I bought a mirror from MyHabit.  On Saturday, I finally got around to hanging it. The mirror has a beautiful zebra-wood inspired gold frame which gives it an ethnic, chic feel. I decided to hang it in my dining room directly across from the window to help add light.

Sunday was a shopping day and I hit Abbot Kinney! 🙂  First I treated myself to this awesome handmade aged brass and neon necklace I bought from Strim Vintage.

Then I visited Urbanic for the first time (and fell in love).  I bought these adorable papers from Snow & Graham (floral) and Midori (blue polka dot). Stay tuned for a chic DIY project that I’m planning for them.

Well, that’s it, hope you enjoyed it. Want to about my weekend adventures every week, once a month, never again? Leave a comment to let me know what you think. Thanks!

Part 4 of our Venice Garden & Home Tour focuses in on lighting.  Clearly a necessity from a functional standpoint, lighting also helps create a point of view in a room.  From traditional to modern, simple to over-the-top; the light fixtures we saw on the tour were varied and fabulous.  Here are the highlights:

Outdoor lighting gone chic

Industrial sconce – I love how you can see the filament

Mid-century modern masterpiece

The perfect mix of contemporary and modern – what a conversation piece!

Lighting with a personal touch – those are individual notes

Simple and colorful X 3

A work of art… literally!

Click here to see more lighting options.

What’s next? In part 5, we’ll focus on one of the most important rooms in the house… that is if you’re hungry 🙂
