We spent our last day and a half in Rome immersing ourselves in the pope’s country (really, Vatican City is its own independent country in the middle of Rome). There was so much to see and learn. I thought I’d share a few highlights.
The ornate bronze canopy over the alter in St. Peter’s Basilica (St. Peter’s tomb lies 23 feet below the marble floor)
A fountain in St. Peter’s square with the basilica in the background and light streaming down from the heavens (literally)
Side view of an intricate (and massive) fireplace mantle in one of the bishops apartments inside of the Vatican… I wouldn’t mind having one of these in my house
A grand hallway leading out of the Sistine Chapel. How Fabulous!
Headed off to Venice now… Ciao!
